MSC Relocation: Who’s Moving to Florida’s SW Gulf Coast

By: | | Share Tweet Email

The MSC Relocation Division of Michael Saunders & Company saw a busy and successful 2018 helping customers relocate to and from our area. Rounding out last year, we saw our customer relocation numbers soar up to 38%. As we know, more and more people wish to call Sarasota their new home and our numbers are proof.

Where Are New Residents Coming From?

Our top seven customer generating markets continue to grow. The Midwest provided our highest collective inbound referrals, which is no surprise. Illinois was up by 31% and Ohio by 10%. Susie Rosario, Director of Business Development, said “Weather is a key indicator as Illinois has experienced a record-breaking winter season with harsh freezes and snow. Our online visitor traffic from Illinois was up by 195% in January alone.”

Texas was the highest single state generating referrals – people looking to move to our region – with interest increasing by 38% last year. Additionally, New York increased relocation numbers by 11%, Massachusetts by 4%, New Jersey by 7% and Pennsylvania by 11%. Again, weather is a key factor in consumers making the choice to relocate to our area.

This diagram shows the national and international customers relocating to and from our area and agents who served those customers.

Being Our Best

Maintaining strong connections with our affiliates and being the market leader for Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte counties are the attributes that set Michael Saunders & Company apart. However, “being our best and looking for opportunities to improve are constant motivators”, Rosario explained.

“Our goal is to engage our customers as quickly and effectively as possible, whether they be fellow members of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World or inbound/outbound buyers and sellers. In 2018 we made a conscious effort to execute our goal and implemented technology that enabled us to respond to phone inquiries from our website in under 12 seconds.”

Lessons Learned from 2018

We learned a lot form 2018. Media stories claiming projected regional, national, and global market slowdown and false perceptions of our vibrant Gulf Coast market and its natural beauty created concern with customers. But Rosario confirmed that our region is still a highly sought-after destination.

“With the levels of cash and estate transactions, our Gulf Coast market is unique and distinct from the rest of Florida, the country and the world.”

Onward and Upward

So, what do these numbers indicate for 2019? Rosario said she believes this year will be even better than the increased success of 2018.

“With 10,000 Americans turning 65 every day and our market continuing to be ranked in the Top 5 for Best Places to Retire, we anticipate a continued influx of relocating buyers and sellers. We are a destination of choice.”

Whether moving across the world or just across the state, the MSC Relocation Division has the resources and affiliate connections to make the journey as exceptional as if you were buying in our neighborhood. No matter where you are moving to or from, we believe you deserve excellence.
