It’s no secret that the Gulf Coast is a cultural playground filled with amenity for all ages, but sometimes all the options can make it hard to choose just one. Rather than share a collective list of all the many attractions, here are three activities we’re loving right now about our tri-county area in summer.
Try Something New
With our area touted as a world-class destination for fishing, boating, and golfing, what do you do if you’re a novice? Are there resources for those just dipping their toe into the metaphorical waters of a new hobby? Yes! If you’re looking to try your hand at these wonderful outdoor activities this summer, here are some excellent places to start.
Fishing
Captain Cam has been guiding clients on the waters of Sarasota Bay and its surrounding waterways for over 15 years. After moving to Florida in 2001, he was introduced to the thrill of saltwater fishing and it has been his passion ever since. Cam’s experience and knowledge of the waters from Tampa Bay to Charlotte Harbor ensure that clients of all ages, skill levels and abilities fishing with High-Class Hooker Charters have the best fishing day possible under any conditions.
Golfing
Lakewood Ranch is known for its prestigious championship golf courses – from Esplanade to Lakewood National. For a fun introduction for you or your family, try the newly renovated Legacy Golf Club on Legacy Blvd off University Parkway. In addition to private lessons with the head and assistant golf pros, Legacy is home to some great schools during the summer and year-round.
Boating
Marine Max Sarasota is located between Lido Shores and Longboat Key and provides a wonderful array of resources for those new to boating. The site details classes in the area for kids and those just learning the ropes and gives insight into the kind of boats that suit your preferred activities.
Make a Plan to Discover a New Downtown
There are major changes happening in the metro areas across our tri-county region, and one of the most prominent is that of Venice. Take a look at the changes from the city’s beautification initiative and plan to witness the ribbon cutting later this month to celebrate the efforts the community’s residents, businesses and officials have championed.
Try a New Beach
Beach days and Florida go together like peanut butter and jelly, but once you find a beach you like, you may forget all the others exist. Last spring, we offered our own version of March Madness with our favorite Gulf Coast beaches and asked for our customers, agents and fans to vote their preferred paradise to number one. Curious to see who beat them all out? Even better…curious to see what all the fanfare was about? Our guide can give you a comprehensive overview of each coastal stretch so that you can pick the perfect spit of sand for your preferred activities that day – birdwatching and nature hikes, good ol’ lounging, or even a pancake breakfast.
